Washington DC - Family/Museum Visit

My mom was in town from Washington State way back on May 1st (trying to get caught up!) and we met her brother (from Phily) and his eldest daughter and her newly growing family in DC. We had a blast! We started at the Carousel on the mall. I enjoyed taking some pics of the horsies.

Check out the cool - ghost horse. It was also fitting since I was in the middle of reading "The Pact" by Jodi Picoult. The main event in the book happens at the carousel.
We went to the Museum of Natural History and the National Museum of the American Indian and the Botanical Gardens. I had fun taking pics of interesting things that caught my eye. My uncle did a better job of getting actual people in his shots:

The girls with their daddy on the carousel.

My cousin Amal, My Mom, My Aunt Zilan and Me - Aren't we colorful?

This is Samira, both girls just kept saying "WOOOW"

One of the coolest things I saw all day ~ a skull made out of baseballs by Brian Jungen. Have a lot more pics to post - another day - need to do some lesson planning for the last few weeks of school.

It's been awhile...

I have been having a hard time keeping up with what I HAVE to do - let alone all the extras I WANT to do. My son is on 2 baseball teams and we are on the field 5 sometimes 6 days a week. I'm not complaining because I love it - watching the kids play and socializing with the parents! I just feel like I am running to catch up. School is coming  to a close and I have to make some hard decisions as to what to teach and what we will not have time for. What will keep the kids AND me motivated until the end of the year.

My most exciting news is that my student that won at the County Art Show took the blue ribbon at the state level! It is so exciting!! I am so proud of him.
Here is a cute pic of us and his artwork:
